With last week’s coming out declaration by Apple CEO Tim Cook finally settling in, I’ve started to reanalyze what it means for me to be out at work. I work for one of the “big five” banks in Canada in a non-influential role and I wonder if my openness about my sexuality has done anything to further the acceptance of LGBT’s in the workplace or whether it’s had any positive or negative impact to my current career.
With the International AIDS Conference(AIDS2012) underway in Washington DC, I started to reflect on the history of HIV/AIDS and the destructive relationship it has had with the gay community for the past 30 plus years and I wondered whether much has changed from then to now.
So the madness is over.. It’s been a hell of a week.. And weekend… but boy was it fun! From the looks of it, Pride 2012 was definitely a success. The community really came together to show why Pride Toronto is the largest parade in North America.
